Awe... or should I saw Paw?

Monday, May 4, 2009

Who doesn’t want to help out their four-legged friends? If you’re from the area you’re probably already familiar with the Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary located in Jupiter, FL. Safe Harbor rescues homeless animals in need and keeps these animals safely in boarding until they are adopted (giving reinforcement and staying true to their name). They also offer low cost sterilization with no questions asked and have a veterinary clinic on site.

On Saturday, May 16th they will be holding their 22nd Annual Celebrity Dog Wash event to help raise funds to care for the homeless animals in their care as well as to allow them to continue offering future care and services.

Download the volunteer application here & help your four-legged friends! Ruff … meow :-)

TurtleFest 2009

Friday, May 1, 2009

For the month of April, I volunteered for at TurtleFest 2009. It’s an annual event held at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach, Florida. From the moment I arrived I could see and feel the excitement in the air. Vendors, music, education, games for the kids and friendly faces abound.

The Loggerhead Marinelife Center is an ocean conservation organization with a sea turtle hospital on the premises. The staff is full of intelligent, caring individuals that live their lives day in and day out with a give back attitude. Always, happily available to answer questions, to educate and to put forth all effort possible to help threatened and endangered sea turtles. Being very active in overall ocean conservation requires the help of volunteers and there are always opportunities to help. Click the link to see what you can do to help. I know I’ll be volunteering again very soon!
